What the IB Middle Years Programme offers?

The IB Middle Years Programme has been designed as a coherent and comprehensive curriculum framework that provides academic challenge and develops the life skills of students from the ages of 11 to 16. At a time when parents are establishing their identity and building their self esteem, the IB Middle Years Programme can motivate students and help them to achieve success in school and in life beyond the classroom.

The programme allows students to build on their personal strengths and to embrace challenges in subjects in which they might not excel. It offers students opportunities to develop their potential, to explore their own learning preferences, to take appropriate risks and to reflect on and develop a strong sense of personal identity.

Community Project – Grade 8

The MYP Community Project showcase on 14 March 2020 is the culmination of learning of IB MYP at Grade 8 level.

1. Students worked on projects of their choice and presented projects on:

the installation of Solar Panels in a village,
literacy classes for rural children studying in very primitive conditions
teaching villagers about health and hygiene,
creating audible readers on CDs for blind children and facilitating a library to promote the reading habit.

2. Our students presented their projects with great finesse and confidence and impressed the audience that consisted of parents, teachers and students from other classes.

3. The supervisors were instrumental in ensuring that the process was followed, right from investigating feasible projects, filling in proposal forms, carrying out research and raising awareness, presenting their work and ultimately writing critical reflections.

4. The entire process taught students how to collaborate, research and developed skills like self-management, critical thinking, and taught them values like empathy and respect.

5. Students also understood the importance of IB MYP standardization and moderation for assessment.

Goal – To help the visually challenged students of National Association for the Blind, Mumbai by audio recording folktales in English language to enhance their learning outcomes.

Vision – Students learn the value of giving back to society, support and help citizens who are differently abled and thereby enhance the quality of life for themselves and society at large.
